The 4th Edition of the POP Fund Grant Competition is aimed at those who suffered from the September floods. Thanks to the involvement of donors, grants have been directed to organizations assisting in rebuilding homes, providing psychological support, and supporting many volunteer fire departments in districts where a state of natural disaster was declared.
– Via Salutis Foundation from Wałbrzych
The “Senior Well-being Emergency” project supports 20 elderly individuals affected by the flood. Its goal is to provide psychological support and help restore a sense of security for seniors. Older adults participate in workshops that assist them in developing healthy habits and forming support groups. An additional part of the project is an integration trip, offering an opportunity for relaxation and gaining perspective on difficult experiences.
Projects from 16 organizations, including 8 Volunteer Fire Department units, have been funded by the PKO Bank Polski Foundation. These units, known for their local engagement, work closely with residents and are particularly sensitive to the needs of the local community. Thanks to the received grants, they were able to effectively reach affected families and provide them with real assistance.
– The Volunteer Fire Department in Marklowice
The project “Technology in the Service of the Community – Marklowice Volunteer Fire Department” aims to improve the effectiveness of rescue operations and enhance the safety of residents in the Zebrzydowice municipality, particularly in the Marklowice. As part of the efforts, a power generator, water pumps, and a rechargeable lamp were purchased, which enhances the firefighters’ effectiveness during floods, fires and other crises.
– The Volunteer Fire Department in Bierna
Another initiative important for improving the safety of both residents and firefighters during rescue operations is the project “Rebuilding and Enhancing the Combat Potential of the Bierna Volunteer Fire Department,” which restores the unit’s operational readiness. The department has been equipped with modern rescue equipment, including fire pumps, a power generator, and firefighting tools, which will significantly improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts in future crises. The new equipment will be installed on the upgraded trailer by the firefighters, allowing for a quick and effective response in emergency situations.
The Society of Friends of Children Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Circle in Głuchołazy (TPD) provides direct support to 14 families with children with disabilities in the form of vouchers for the purchase of household goods, food, and items necessary for repairs or renovations in their homes. As part of the project “Coordinated Actions for Families Affected by the Flood and the Reconstruction of the TPD Headquarters in Głuchołazy,” renovation work is also planned for the Society’s headquarters, which was flooded during the disaster, to quickly resume integration and therapeutic activities.
The Polish Center for International Aid Foundation created the POP Fund to direct support to smaller organizations during critical moments. Thanks to this initiative, many projects have had the opportunity to grow, and thousands of people have received the necessary help. The 4th edition of the competition is further proof that collaboration between non-governmental organizations and businesses can bring tangible benefits to society. Since 2023, a total of over 9 million PLN has been allocated through the competition.
The main donor of the 4th edition of the competition is the PKO Bank Polski Foundation. We also thank Orbis S.A., owned by AccorInvest, Globalworth, and Meta for their support of our Fund. The Polish Center for International Aid Foundation has also contributed its own statutory funds to support this edition of the competition.
